I really hope you find a way to save Joyce! I thought the fragmenting between Riley and Buffy was shown wonderfully, as well as Spike's reasons for letting Buffy know about Riley's heart. Good chapter!

Poor Spike, he's been having such fun waiting for Riley to keel over, now he's gone and spoiled it for himself. *g*

This put a smile on my face: Her voice was almost trembling with emotion and Xander was glad for Giles’ sake that Buffy obviously appreciated his efforts. Looking around again, he felt a renewed surge of pleasure on his own behalf that Giles wasn’t holding the room exclusively for his Slayer’s use and was going to allow Spike and Xander to use it as well. Buffy's obvious appreciation on the heels of Giles' offer to Xander was like a group hug.

Nice capture, too, of Riley's clingy insecurity in this chapter. Spike giving Buffy the heads up about the heart murmur was stellar. Spike hates him, but Riley was someone that Dawn and Joyce would mourn for. It makes sense that Spike would 'fess up. I love how Spike keeps surprising Xander, too.

The workout room really was pretty cool looking. I thought Xander would enjoy using it too. *g*

It was a pity that Riley handled losing his extra strength so badly, its a big part of the reason why he and Buffy broke up.

I suspect Buffy won't let Riley get to the point of collapse. Unlike the stupid macho idiot did in canon.

Great new chapter. You've managed to hint at a lot of the craziness that happened in season 5 with Joyce, Dawn and Riley so I'm very curious(with a side of ripping my hair out waiting for the next chapter) about how you'll re-imagine it.

You've done a great job on Giles' and Buffy's relationship storyline and their new training room. I could almost imagine it. I also loved the bit about Spike and Xander being invited.

The bit about Spike warning Buffy about Riley was very interesting and I can't help but wonder if it's the suckhouse or something else and what exactly Spike knows...curiouser and curiouser.

Buffy stopped taking Giles for granted about now, which was great. Poor guy had been underappreciated for far too long. It's kind of fun to give him his due.
