“Why’re you here then?” Spike asked, lifting his scarred brow. He took the beer and followed Rayne’s example.
“Same reason you are,” Rayne told him. “I believe the technical term is ‘whipped’.” At Spike’s darkening glare, he shrugged. “What can I say? I’m a realist.”

Thanks! I was having trouble with how to wrap up this chapter, and suddenly Ethan wandered over, and it just clicked. So glad you liked it.

The ending ending, I'm afraid. The events of season 6 & 7 can't happen here. No trio because Jonathan is happily living with Larry at UCLA and the First Evil only arose because Buffy came back from the dead, splitting the Slayer line. It's been a fun ride, but it feels like this is the right place to end it.
