Liberal+Trees?

Portland
Eugene
Corvallis
Ashland

Sun?

Anywhere in the summertime. Nowhere but Bend in the winter.

Not a big city?

Probably Eugene, though I'm not sure if portland really qualifies as a "Big City". Try Eugene or Portland.

Definitely not Salem =P. There are some areas of Portland and Beaverton that I love, and I love being over in Lincoln city or even as far out as Seaside. There's a lot of great places, and if you want sun, pretty much anywhere during the summer as someone above said.

I would have to disagree - I love Salem! I moved all the way to Oregon from south Florida this past summer. I looked at a lot of places in WA, ID and OR and chose Salem. It's a smaller city than where I came from, right outside of town is rural farmland, lots of jobs (it has federal, state and city offices), only 45 minutes from Portland (which has a major airport, concerts and plenty of things to do). I absolutely love the summer weather and get along ok with the rain.

Lincoln City and Seaside are gorgeous but very small, and geared more towards tourism. Not many jobs unless you are in service/retail/etc.

I have only visited Portland and the coast so far, so I don't really know much about the other areas. I did drive through eastern Oregon to get to Salem and it is a vast desert wasteland of nothingness! lol

I live in Bend.. Central Oregon...

It is sunny here probably 355 days a year.. seriously... the cascades Mt Bachelor with prime skiing is 15 min away.. the deschutes river runs through the middle of downtown.. the downtown area is awesome. 15 min from Smith Rock ( the mecca for rock climbers all over the world). It's about 75,000 population.. an award winning Parks and rec program.. I sound like a realtor.. but no I am not lol . I love it here.. but since I compete in sport kiting I am looking to head over towards the coast.. but I have lived here 8 years now..
