Travelling by train in Europe can get pretty pricey. You can get a pass here but they are a lot of money. The good thing is that you can get day passes. I never did the travelling around Europe after college, so I don't know too many details.

I'll be in England on the 11th-19th, I remember you asking about it. So are going to venture over the channel?

It'll be good to have you back.

I don't really know much about it but you can get a eurail pass but that's kind of pricey and only useful if you'll be doing a lot of traveling.

I don't know...I was studying in rome for a semester awhile ago and just went ahead and bought the tickets full price whenever I went anywhere...I can't really remember how much it was but I never had a problem actually getting on the train I wanted. Seating reservations cost extra so without one you might be sitting on the floor but at least you can get on...

I've not traveled by train a lot in Europe, but I did travel from Florence to Rome (and almost Milan, but that's another story) on the train. As I remember it is good to have a reservation if it is a holiday weekend or if you want the comfy seats (couchettes?), but otherwise, just show up and buy a ticket. It's a bit like the Metroliner back East where you just head to the station and a train is certain to be leaving pretty soon.

Looking forward to your return...
