Servant!Guy + Asch Log

It was surprisingly warm weather in Daath. The mountains had held back the rains, and it was a bright, sunny day out. Regardless of the unusual heat, Asch had decided to practice. Van's plans were coming closer and closer to completion, and Asch knew that he'd need all the strength he could muster to see it through ( Read more... )

Guy shrugged his shoulders, saying nothing in regards to the troops. He'd said his part, and left it at that.

He considered Asch's words for a moment, scuffing a hand through his hair. "All I know is that it has something to do with the Fon Master. But I don't think Ion or his guardians know about it, either. It's strange - usually Van mentions something to me, but lately he's just been sending me off to take care of thinks that aren't really relevant to what he's planning. I guess I'm not the only one out of the loop, but still..."

Asch ran his fingers through his hair, trying to keep it from tangling too much. "This is everything he's been working on since he got into the Order of Lorelei." If this had been Legretta, Sync, or even Largo, he might have been threatened on the spot for even talking about it.

"The fact that you don't know what's going on bothers me." Asch sighed. He hoped that Guy could be loyal to them both without having to skin Asch alive for this. "This is supposed to be his grand plan for fixing the world. We should know it by now."

Guy nodded, absently lifting a hand to help Asch with his hair. Years of servitude made some habits hard to break - not to mention he actually enjoyed doing it. 'Habit' was a convenient excuse most of the time. "He's always talked about destroying the Score, bringing an end to the misery of this world... but besides telling me about you being here instead of in Baticul, he never told me how he was going to do it. The alteration of one person's destiny... can that really be enough to change how people have lived their lives for thousands of years?"

It wasn't enough. It could never be enough, and they all knew it. So why was Van so determined?

"This can't be just one person. Something else is involved, or we wouldn't be dragging around that deadbeat pansy Dist around." Asch had never been fond of Dist, as the man had a great deal to do with the things that happened to him in the laboratory when he was a child.

"He hasn't told me much either. I'm supposed to be a pivotal part in it," he added, sounding less sure than before. "This is supposed to be instead of the fact that I am meant to die in Akzeriuth in the coming months." Thinking about that made him uncomfortable. Van had told him not to concern himself with Akzeriuth, as he wouldn't even need to be there during the period he was supposed to die. Asch was dubious, but not ready to question his master just yet.

"That's true as well," Guy admitted, lips pursed into a frown. "If Dist is involved, it probably has something to do with advanced fontech - while he isn't good for much else, his expertise in fontech rivals the researchers of Sheridan. I don't know what that means, though."

Taking a step away and setting his hands on his hips, he gave Asch a meaningful look. "Let's not dwell on it too much. There are other things to worry about right now, and Akzeriuth is a while away. If all goes according to Van's plan, you shouldn't give it a second thought."

He himself wasn't pleased with the idea, honestly. He'd grown attached to the replica - Luke, he was called now, of course - and he didn't want to see the boy die. But he didn't want Asch to die either, and given a choice...

They both should live. Van... why couldn't you have just taken Asch away from there at the right time, and not bothered with a replica at all?
