I am going to have to disagree with the rest.

I do not pre-heat my quesadilla maker and it makes perfectly fine quesadillas. -.-

Actually I meant to say something about preheating being mostly unnecessary - for some baking projects preheating is good because then you are better able to predict the "done" ness but I have put casseroles and things into the oven while it preheats with no issues. Only thing I would recommend against that is cookies or anything with a cook time shorter than 10 minutes due to burn risk.

I think in this case the preheating was mostly unnecessary, it tasted just fine the way it was. I'll try it *with* preheating next time and see how that works.

I tried to imitate your way of making them, except I'm too much of a wimp to actually pick it up with my fingers, I needed to use a tool.

all of the above. personally, I would add it on top after. either way, salsa is friend. As long as it's not too too spicy.
