1. The Start

“Come on! In here!”

Yunho nearly fell over as Jae yanked him sideways and down some scrummy little alleyway and across a road to appear before yet another store in the back end of nowhere.

How he got suckered into this, he didn’t know. Just like he didn’t quite know how his usually ordered life had gotten so crazy recently. He did, however, know the origin of this chaos though, and he placed the blame squarely on Jaejoong’s broad shoulders and skinny little ass.

Said skinny little ass had already dumped him by the door of the store, shimming through stacks of haphazardly organised bolts and baskets of fabrics to the table buried deep amongst it all. The place looked like a bomb had hit it. Sadly, the bomb hadn’t quite destroyed the place though, and Yunho resigned himself to standing there like a hat rack as his still-enthusiastic boyfriend chatted rapidly with a perky looking shop assistant, who looked all too pleased to serve such an eye-candy customer.

Yunho sighed. How Jae could be so happy after a whole day of traipsing around in what seemed to Yunho to be a completely aimless way… well, that was something else Yunho didn’t know. Jaejoong had gotten frustrated after about the third shop, ranting endlessly about fabrics and colours and satin and other stuff sounded like just so much gobblty gook to Yunho. But after a stop at a café and some fortifying coffee, they were off again. Yunho was turned into a glorified bell boy as he trailed after his boyfriend, carting their growing collection of bags while Jaejoong flittered from one fabric shop to the next in search of ‘the perfect blue’. Or red, or yellow, or whatever the hell else he was questing for.

The whole thing was traumatising… at the same time as being mind numbingly boring. Yunho didn’t really enjoy shopping at the best of times, and fabric shopping was just exacerbating the feeling a hundred fold.

“Yunho! Come here!” Jaejoong was making flapping motions at him, and Yunho grumbled to himself as he hopped through the mess, trying not to send the whole store falling on his head with an inadvertent bump from one of the bags he was holding.

Jaejoong dove straight into one of the bags, obviously searching for something. The shop assistant, meanwhile, smiled rather flirtatiously at Yunho, giving him much more of a once-over then Yunho strictly felt comfortable with.

“Hi…” The girl drawled, and lent forward over the table top. Yunho eyed her warily.

“Hello.” He replied slowly.

“Oh, this is Yunho.” Jaejoong inputted, still bent over his shopping. “Yunho, this is TaeSoon.”

“Jaejoong, you should bring him by more often…” TaeSoon said, now fairly learing at Yunho. Yunho shuffled uncomfortably and wondered if he could go lurk behind a rack of fabrics without Jaejoong yelling at him.

“AH-HA.” Jaejoong’s loud exclamation made Yunho jump slightly, and he actually moved back half a step as his lover jumped up, brandishing a long cut of pale yellow, gauzy fabric. It was a good thing he had moved back, because Jaejoong otherwise would have barrelled straight over him in his haste. His beloved ignored him easily though, instead reverantly laying out the piece of fabric on the table. TaeSoon made an agreeable humming sort of noise, and spread out another fabric on top of the yellow one.

“Perfect!” Jaejoong beamed. TaeSoon nodded.

“Looks good! How much do you need then?”

“Well, it’s only for the sleeves, but hmm. Say two meters. It’s quite wide.” Jaejoong said, beginning to fold up the yellow again. He was fairly preening at his find. Yunho just watched the two of them with bewildered eyes.

Soon, the fabric was cut and folded, along with some ribbon Jaejoong found and some (more) gold thread. Jaejoong paid, and then wriggled the new bag onto Yunho’s spare wrist.

He waved happily to TaeSoon as he left. The girl grinned back, then winked at Yunho as he struggled to keep hold of all the stuff he was carrying. Yunho froze for a moment, staring at her, before fleeing after Jaejoong.

Yunho looked down at the number of bags lining his arms and cutting into his skin, and up at the happily humming form of his lover ambling down the street in front of him, looking up at the store signs as they passed them and looking as perky as he had this morning, before noticeably wilting.

I damn well better be getting some mind-blowing sex tonight, he thought glumly to himself as he was yanked off into yet another shop not minutes later.

wtfcrack?, yunjae/jaeho, otaku!jae
