So I'm only posting this because I think Ryan might like to look at it.  It's about 9 pages long, though.  (There's a lot I wanted to add, but I was already 20 minutes past deadline -- luckily, he likes me and is really flexible on deadlines.  I might still add them in the future; it's mostly like six pages shorter than what I wanted on Ryan's book ( Read more... )

But you see what I did do. I'm actually rather proud of it as it turned out, since I was already rather in the home stretch, time wise, by the time I reached your topic. I might still get some quotage from you when it comes to your opinion of hardboiled/crime authors (even though Andy says you've never read any -- you can't get through life without being somewhat exposed to it).

I think I might actually use it, once I've ironed out the additions, for my Honors Thesis. Or some of it for my grad application writing sample. Parts of that flowed rather well. Thanks for being inspiring there, dude.

I did read The Big Sleep in high school. And I'm pretty familiar with Chandler, as well as noir film.

Someone recently mentioned comparisons to Pynchon and Joyce, which I really need to research as well.

But I'd be glad to help you out in any way possible. I was very much impressed with what you did.
