I really liked this insight into her past. I think that was really interesting and fun to see, and yeah, I like when we get to see into what characters were like before we knew them. Kind of deal. Oh, man, that was a long ramble to say a little thing.
I love the format of this fic! I think it works so well to have the repetition of that line with a slight change every time to show in this quick, hard hitting way the development of their relationship over time.
Tara left her about forty notebooks with anecdotes and stories and journal entries from her entire life in the military, in the hopes that Mac would get them published for her one day. To this day, they're still sitting in a storage unit somewhere, because Mac can't bear to think of Tara's story being over.
My FAVORITE part of the whole piece. Just... that last line is idk. I wish I had words to describe why I love it so much but I do. I really do. Great insight into Mac as a character and hell, Tara, too... but especially Mac.

I love the structure of the fic - repetition makes me happy (as I'm sure you know, since I pull that SO VERY OFTEN). My favorite part was definitely the third bit, with the firefight. I don't know, but any time military kids get pinned down somehow in a fic, I get all giddy and "awwwww".

XD <333 Thank yooou. I love Mac so much and it is SURPRISINGLY HARD to write angsty fic with her in, because she's so... Belligerently NOT ANGSTY. Not happy, of course, but not ANGSTY. (So we gave her an angstpit for a ward, GO US.)
