Nurses

I should take a break from venting frustration and express some gratitude.  The nurses at Dell Children's Hospital were absolutely amazing.  From finding a vein in Zane's big toe to getting Zane juice when neither of us could move (Zane had fresh stitches and was lying on top of me), they did everything with great care and patience.  It's a ( Read more... )

I am not a praying man, so I'll say Mrs. glorin's thoughts and mine are with your family. I am sorry Zane (and his folks) have to go through this. I am glad the nurses rock.

A lot of people ask what they can do. I had to be pretty clear early on that anyone flying to Austin to take care of Zane might be putting him in danger.

I'm feeling desperate in a lot of ways, but it's mostly with time and mostly with time dealing in local events. As I see it now, it looks like we're okay for money. That's probably true of only a teeny fraction of parents in our position, so I don't feel it would be moral for us to accept that.

This is a long-winded way of saying I take these offers seriously, but I honestly can't think of anything at the moment.

I was wondering more if you needed anyone to be tested as a bone marrow donor. It's a pretty far out chance that one of us would be a match but unlikelier things have happened.

12-hour shifts when all is well. Lots of times in the hospitals I've worked around they do 16 or more hours, if the next person is late or out, or if there's a shortage. I'm glad you all had a good (if that's the word, as you noted earlier "good" seems over- and ill-used) experience.

Glad you're back home...I think that's the case anyway. We are all thinking about you and your family. I think I sent an e-mail to an address you had in the early Iron Age. I think I don't have your regular address, either.

A. is cooking pieces of an allosaurus puzzle for pretend breakfast. "Big Red Car" medley is on. I can't decide which Wiggle is the hottest. I think I need a day job.
