Watchmen

I just saw Watchmen.  It's rather faithful and it's very pretty.  They had to cut about half of it to keep it down to the really long run time the movie has anyway, and without fail, they cut the least memorable half.  The plot changes are pretty minor and I agree with them.  I loved the soundtrack

The two most faithful adaptations I ever saw were The Van and Sorcerors Stone (as you mentioned); both of them were not as good as movies as Azkaban and The Commitments, which were adaptations of other books in the same series, and felt more like the books they adapted because, IMO, the directors thought like authors, and not like reporters.

The best job of adapting a screenplay I think I've ever seen is High Fidelity.

That is good news. I'm apprehensive but excited about the movie. Even more so about the extended DVD.
