What's interesting about that article that apart from his wireless connection (which is a hardware bug in the Asus EeePC), the only thing that did NOT work was his iPod. Oddly he doesn't blame his iPod for not working, he blames Linux. Well hell... I have 3 iPods here, all work fine with Linux, but they are OLD ones, before Apple went and changed their protocols to deliberately cripple anyone not using iTunes. So the person he should be blaming is Steve Jobs, not Linus Torvalds...

Its why it annoyed me so , i thought Linux was doing too well , a sutble knock by Auntie Beeb . Grrrr

To be fair, it's not really a knock by the Beeb, but by an idiot journo incapable of figuring something out. I do agree with you though that it says more about the writer than the OS itself. It is a shame though that people will read that and be influenced by it.
