I have a LaCie ethernet disk mini (v.2) that I've been using as a network storage drive and keeping my music collection on it. Tonight, however, the drive failed to boot up. Finally, the issue of Scan Journal that I've been co-editing has just gone live. It's been a long slog, with a few delays and a few moments of panic but it all turned out nice in the end. I just read the court judgment in EMI v. Promise Media from 13th August. I'm very, very pleased because finally a court in the US has ruled that unlicensed sampling can be protected as fair use. Of course, this is still state-based rather than federal, but it's nice to see that the Supreme Court of New York has managed to reach a sensible verdict, ( Read more... )

I'm still alive. Nothing really to report. Lots happening at work, but I really don't want to be talking about it here ... or anywhere in fact. I had a cold have a go a couple of days, but I'm over it now. They should know better than try and take on my kickass immune system :)
