I'm reminded of an Irish joke (in both senses of the word - it's about Irish people but also told by Irish people). You have to read it aloud with the accent to get it.
Paddy goes to England looking for work and is staying with his mate Seamus. (You can tell that it's an old joke just from this - these days it would be about an Englishman looking for work in Ireland.) Seamus tells him a local building site is recruiting labourers, but he doesn't stand much of a chance because the foreman is prejudiced against the Irish. Paddy goes anyway and asks the foreman for a job. The foreman says he doesn't want any thick Irishmen working on his site, so Paddy says "OK, ask me a question, any question." The foreman scratches his head, then says "What's the difference between a girder and a joist?" Paddy replies: "Oh, that's easy - Goethe wrote Faust and Joyce wrote Ulysses."
So are they actually giving you classes in learning strategies?
I don't get why you are saying that you can't do IQ tests because you are dyslexic yet you scored very highly in one. That would be like me saying I can't lift heavy weights because I have arthritis and then lifting a sofa on my own. Just because that sort of test doesn't generally work for people with dyslexia doesn't mean that you can't do it at all.
Knowing all this (which I think a fair few of us could have told you without the test!) is no good unless you know what to do with it. You are a magician - bring about change in accordance with your Will!
I have my full report coming so yes they will have to ! I have a few books and course to recommend it s likley sadly they will try and drag their hills the swines .
Lol sorry its me mis representing what was actually said , sorry its not that you cant do them its they will give a false result (or that was how it was explaied to me ;) )
Yes but as we know its right time right place as well , i know have the knowledge and its given me the "fire" to change and rebirth as it were . Another part that is not often talked about is the very low self esteem and lack of self confidence you suffer , simpy becuase you are being constantly told you are wrong and or are thinking in the wrong way . I have the knowledge and understanding I am not and those we tell me otherwise had better have more then an authoritive tone and their own arrogance ! ;)
I think what happens with dyslexia and IQ tests is that sometimes they can give an inaccurate report of intelligence because the methods via which the test is administered as well as what it is testing can be component skills that are affected by learning difficulties - memory, language, fine motor skills etc. The end result could one in which a dyslexic individual has a lower IQ score than someone without learning difficulties even though they may both have identical (or better) reasoning and problem solving skills. Lower IQ scores may be a result of the learning difficulty, thus the result underestimates the real intelligence of the individual.
Exactly as it was exaplined to me (and as a general aside most dyslexic are higher then average on rationing as generaly they must form their own coping machanisums). Ill have the full report next week so ill know more you can read it when your over ;) ..
