I've been studying mathematics and the Old Testament recently and I keep notes as if I'm writing a book on each of the subjects. The math books I've been reading lately have been a bit more philosophical. Some of them have been "transitional" books. That is, books dealing with moving away from the more intuitive practical mathematics that uses both geometry and algebra to the upper year formal foundational pure mathematics that tries to rigorously justify claims from set ( Read more... )

This is continuing the thread started from my original postWhen I went to University there were (and still are) three streams to take first year math courses. The 12X courses were applied courses for physics and engineering students, 13X courses were for math majors, and the 14X courses were advanced versions of the courses that involved proofs.
