[Progress. The PCD flickers on with the clicking of buttons and a surprisingly intense orchestral piece. After a few seconds, Ciel pauses, closing his eyes. Slowly, it seems as though words filter through here and there. He lets it stretch until it's almost audible, and then he takes a deep breath, letting it go. The song fades, and Ciel's mouth ( Read more... )

[Blink blink.]

Isn't chess pretty hard? I'm really impressed you can even do it on the PCD!

What about tetris? Hmmmm, or a good racing game!

Chess may be a game of complex strategy, but the rules are simple enough to grasp and implement.

Tetris?

[What is this futuristic stuff, Usagi.]

[Hey, there's even Sailor Moon tetris.]

Um. It's like a puzzle, kind of. Shapes fall down from the top, and you can move them around so they fit together. If a whole row is taken up, it disappears to make more room. If it all fills up to the top, you lose.

Could you illustrate what you mean in some way? With pen and paper?

What's "Chess" and "Poker"?

Both are games.

Chess is a two-player board game with a field containing two different armies of playing pieces, each army belonging to one player. The playing pieces are limited, and there are differing types with differing abilities. Both armies are equal in pieces and powers.

The object of the game is to use strategy within the confines of the rules of the game to capture the opponent's "king" piece before one's own "king" is taken. The player who manages to take the other player's "king" wins.

Poker is played with playing cards of a suit. It is a game of more chance than skill, but it requires strategy, bluffing, and the ability to call the odds. It is often combined with gambling.

The first one sounds boring but the second one sounds a lot more fun. Especially when gambling is involved. But unfortunately I don't think a card game would do anything for me.

Card games, no -- but perhaps something similar could be created through textured chips or coins.

... You created games for the PCD?

It has been rather quiet round here lately.

Even so, I'm... rather impressed. I wouldn't mind playing the chess game at all.

If you would be willing to help me test it, I will send you the prototype.

I have a predilection for chess that has apparently become well-known.

We shall see.

[A smile, but it has a challenge in it.]

I've dismantled and put together the PCD twice since arrival, but the idea to create games for it never occurred to me. It would have been a remarkably easy and fun way to pass the time, despite the event keeping me awake.

Technology has never been my primary interest, but it does have potential. Children are so very greedy about games.

[Don't think he doesn't pick up on it, either.]

I would encourage you to look into it.

Entirely.

Ever thought about doing something more constructive?

[Video] other_sights May 15 2011, 03:57:40 UTC
And what, precisely, would you find constructive?
