Point-and-shoot tips

I'm not doing this to be the photographic equivalent of the Grammar Police... really! I've meant to write this for a very long time. I've learned quite a few things in my photographic exploits so far -- read books, viewed tutorials, attended seminars, pored through exhibits, made the stupid mistakes myself -- and so I'm ready to distill all that ( Read more... )

1. isn't exactly possible in my laboratory. Have to use the flash.
2. AMEN
3. Exception being purposed macro shots, maybe?
4. Rule of Thirds is the best way for simple shots that look nice.
5. I go the 60/40 rules - 60% subject, 40% background.
6. I'm too guilty of this, sadly because there's no other way around it in my area.
7. I wish this would get nailed into every person's head. Oh so many 1024x768 images cropped and then blown up to 1920x1080 and it looks like garbage even with filters.
8. Biggest issue is with excess green light - even a slightly tinted piece of plastic in front of the camera lens will take care of this - love cheap fixes!
