A morning walk in the spring sunchine sounds wonderful, doesn't it?
Beliefs evolve as you journey through life, they are influenced by your companions, environment and the landmarks you pass along the way. You've reached a fork in the road, it's ok to take a shortcut through the woods in between and find your own way - after all, there's no one destination.
There is no betrayal involved. You explored a different path, which is what most of us did when we looked at pagan paths in the beginning. I didn't betray anything else when I explored the Bible and all the things my Christian friends believed. I gained at least one lifetime friend from it, and neither of us changed our beliefs in the end. How do you know that your own faith is what you truly want, unless you have explored others and have something to compare with

Being lonely and lost are good enough explanations, mormons are very good at the family/community thing - rather than feeling bad I think you should be proud of yourself that your core beliefs won out in the end, despite the fact it would have been "easier" to go with the flow. Sorry you feel hurt and guilty, if you can't have a fling at fifty when can you, though *hugs*
Good to see you posting agian, hope the time away looking after people will help you feel less lost, and yay for doggy companions and fab curtains, small steps, small steps, but steps all the same.
Religion is a very personal thing, I would be highly disapointed in anyone who scoffed or sneered because someone took an interest in learning about other peoples opinions and beliefs. I think its a good thing to constantly test your own beliefs.
Sounds like they were nice folks for the mainpart, so it sounds like you had a good time and made a friend or two there, hopefully there were one or two more open minded people who will stay in contact with you afterwards :)
Making friends and checking other things out is never a betrayal, blindly believing what you are told and ignoring any chance to question or develop them is more of a betrayal than any form of learning could possibly be :)
Also, Good to hear that Herbie is still healthy, I still remember him from Wyrdrune's handfasting :> Been thinking about times back then a few times recently actually :>

May I also suggest : take Herbie out for a little walk every day - preferably at a regular time so it becomes a joyful addition to the day.
