Well, Katherine it appears we find ourselves in quite a quandary.

As much as I would enjoy the wonderful ear flicks and whatnot during my stay in LA, i would say go to berkeley haha.

Becuase 1) it does have a 'much better program' for what you want to do
and more importantly 2) its not really like youre going to be sacrificing all youre potential fun by going to berkeley -- you already said that you really like the city and everything, so its not as black and white as choosing between education or location. Who knows, you might not even like LA, but you do already know that you are a huge fan of Berkeley and it will provide you with atleast a little better education. Change for changes sake is not great.

BUTTTT with that said...
haha im hella pumped to go to LA and i think you'd probably love it too. i dont think you can really make a wrong choice here, but i'd lean towards berkeley

COME TO CAL!!!!!! HOORAY YOU GOT IN! :)

You would be perfect here... and it just ROCKS anyway! But LA is cool too, I suppose... if you like mediocre football and matchy matchy buildings. Hehe. But seriously, congrats on both. You'll be a stud no matter what you choose. -Caitie

I'm in the same quandary...the circumstances are different, but the choices are the same. Good luck with your choice. What are you majoring in?

By the way, did you know Cathy listens to Metallica too?

katty, im so confused now myself, esp. after coming back from UCSD and seeing how much asthetics really matter. and i think undergrad isnt as important if you plan on going to grad school so personally i would think youd go somewhere where you'd have lots of fun before real life strikes. berk for you would be in your comfort zone because you are there so often, so i think ucla would be fun because its different and sunny. and plus, the better you feel the better your grades will be and the better the grad school you'll get into! it might be warped thinking, but im mike.
