Patrick!

Although we do not know one another, the mere list of things afflicting you and especially the cardiac afflictions are troubling. I wish you full recovery, both the heart and from the shingles. I think of you (and from your LJ photos, see you) as a healthy, vibrant, good-natured person. So sad to read that all this crashed in on you.

Wish for you plenty of rest, and reduced stress.

Return to LJ again soon.

sepsis = no fun at all. Thankfully, I know this only second-hand. Colour me amazed that they released you after only a week!

I am slouching toward Facebook. Look for me there before the end of the month!

no kidding! pach00ey August 14 2009, 15:18:28 UTC

and here i had thought i only had the flu and *boom* when i get to the ER and do enough bloodwork, it turns out to be sepsis... they found the two emboli (<-- feels weird that it's the plural of embolus!!) later and it wasn't until a doctor was listening to my heart/lungs that they thought to check my heart.. and lo and behold.. voilà!

suffice it to say that that first week, i was doing pretty ok...
they took right good care of me and the regimen of anitbiotics they had me on had me pretty close to being ready to being back home.

if i hadn't had the allergic reaction that landed me back in the hospital.. who knows...

if you make it to facebook, pls do look me up and all.. easy enough to check for me by my current email (first_name dot last_name at gmail dot com). =)

Wow, that is some serious bad stuff. Sometimes I get unreasonably fearful of those kinds of infections but for you it was real, and I'm very glad you made it through. Best wishes and take extra good care of yourself! Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean, sadly, that the bacterias aren't trying to kill us all....
