The roads are even nastier tonight, as it's had time to melt and refreeze. I needed to go out to get some food-stuff, and wound up walking to Warehouse Market...the cul-de-sac and associated roads are a solid sheet of slick ice. So do be careful, and call me when you make it into work tomrrow morning, k?
Sherwood has spent the entire day napping in the Dog Chair...he's quite adorable.
I don't know how many miles Sophie has on her, but a lot of cars will have that light come on and not go off (permanently), especially if they have a lot of miles. My Ford Contour is 10 years old and has a ton of miles, and we've tried *everything* to get that light to turn off with no success.
Just didn't want you to worry too much. :)
(PS: I hope this post made sense. I just got off a 14-hour shift and am not convinced I'm completely coherent.)
You can always take out the light.....that would get rid of the problem no sweat ^^
But no kidding Miriam, the older the vehicle gets the more likey that light will just run around on all the time. If I were you I would stop giving those guys money. All they are doing is looking at the thing, and not being able to do anything.
I never did find out what all was wrong with Sophie in the first place?
Actually, the guys at Surfside charged me for the initial repairs and then for the replacement wires. No additional charges since then and they won't even let me pay them until they've got the problem actually fixed. They're really being very nice about it all. And Sophie's problem was apparently a combined effort of bad fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and a fuel temperature sensor. (I think that's what the whole list was; I would have to check my invoice to be sure.)
Glad to hear.tedark1February 19 2006, 23:13:23 UTC
Well now that she is yours all that stuff is just yearly check-up stuff. If you find yourself a manual for your make and model you should be able to replace that stuff no sweat. Might take longer than just changing the oil, but saves alot of money ^^ Plus when the time comes to get it done; I have no doubt you should know someone who will help you with it. Good luck with your move-in.
I've heard that sometimes (since cars have personalities, it seems) if you give them a higher quality of gas once or twice the light goes off. Something about it being cleaner, I think. I hope that she gets better, though. *sends good vibes to you* ^_^
The octane is the fuel grade. Higher octanes have less junk in them to put it simply. Almost all the gas cleaners I have seen are actually jet fuel. This help to break up the deposits of crud on your spark plugs and such, and expell them out the exhaust.
I definitely feel for you on the car troubles. I have affectionately nicknamed my car the "hell car." I've spent more money trying to fix that damn thing than i've made. And after the thousands of dollars i've spent on it the check engine light just stays on most of the time. Although with my car that little light is the least of my concerns. As long as it's running ok and not making any odd sounds that just shouldn't be coming out of a car then i think you'll be ok.
