Jan told me yesterday that our cat Osha had passed away. I was not particularly surprised - the day before she had stopped eating or drinking water, and tried to tuck herself into a corner. (When her mother, Rosebud, had liver failure and we had to hydrate her with a syringe she bore it for two days and then left to die in peace. This family likes ( Read more... )

I can certainly sympathize. I just realized now that the last time I was house/cat-sitting for my parents we had the two, and right now it's just Smokey. We grow so attached. Happy to hear she passed peacefully.

Sadness lady (even though you aren't sad, it's still a hard thing to say goodbye to an old friend). She lived a long life and it sounds like she knew, for all her determination to remain aloof, that she had a family she belonged with (she may have mistaken the treadmill for a member of the family, we'll never know; it may explain why she looked at you like that when you attempted to use it).
