One...week...left

I declared my Faulkner paper, due tomorrow, done a few hours ago.  I've been working on Proust since then. I'm taking a break now to eat dinner and watch Extreme Home Makeover, a terribly guily pleasure which I really think ought to be catalogued as pornography--I mean, what other phrase besides "cum shot" could you really use for the moment when ( Read more... )

One... week.... left -- I heard that. :<) Good luck with the final stages of your semester projects -- let me know how they turn out. I may make some last minute adjustments to my Joyce paper after I get the review from my respondent tomorrow, though maybe not -- we'll see. It is due by finals week, i.e. two weeks from tomorrow, though I plan to turn mine in next week since we don't have to come to class in finals week. This week I have to finish my Fielding / Eighteenth Century gender studies paper and again -- it isn't technically due until the following week, but as there is no other reason for me to come to campus that week, I plan to turn it in next Monday. I have two presentations to give tomorrow on each of my research papers, and a Research Question / Plan of Study synopsis to turn in tomorrow (already finished), a conference group to chair next week, and that is it ( ... )

I can't wait to hear the results of your book review. I'm wondering now if part of grad school is teaching us to get very explicit directions before starting a project?

I'll send you my papers if you send me yours! First, I'm just curious to read them and, second, if I don't get around to reading one of those long books in the next year, it might give me enough to talk about them in an oral exam. How long was the condensed version you read? Did you read Judith Butler? I'm very interested in your take on the gender politics going on.

After I get through this week, Friday afternoon my modernism teacher is having us all over to her house for tea and finger sandwiches and cakes. I am very much looking forward to that. Friday night is the GSE christmas party, with the theme of ugly holiday sweaters--I got the most amazingly bedazzled one at goodwill I'm looking forward to wearing.

We've almost made it through our first semester of graduate school--yay us!
