It's not actually that weird, but it is to me--I just love watching pbs shows about the Queen of England.  I think the money it takes to support a monarchy is ridiculous, and I'm all for the democratic form of government, but I love watching shows about the Queen.  It may just be that I see her as a kindred spirit, in her incredible taste in hats ( Read more... )

I think that's what I was suffering from last night.  A combination of exhaustion and some other things just led me to feel like hiding inside all night, missing a costume party even.  And I love costume parties.  The evening was necessary, though, I think to get me to come up with some strategies to keep from going insane:

Just now, searching through the Norton Critical Edition for a particular essay, I caught myself singing, "Where is Sartre, Where is Sartre..."

For my modernism class, we had a take-home midterm to do this weekend. Dr. Schoenbach repeatedely emphasized (in class and on the test itself) that we were only to spend two hours from the time I opened the stapled-closed test to the time I finished. I did it--today I taught my first classes--two back to back sessions of first year comp, teaching a class on "contextual analysis."  The first section, which I don't normally go to, is quieter, and I went too fast.  They did have an assignment in class to work on (I made a worksheet which we went over, and then they started working on to help them ( Read more... )
