Why do all of the fantasy heroines have long long hair?

Just a quick happy note to get the ball rolling. Alex and I are going to Dragon*con this year! This was one of my holiday presents this year, and I'm already excited.

What character should inspire a costume for me?

My preferences-

2. At least reasonably comfortable shoes. I'm ( Read more... )

Hm. Everyone's going this year, aren't they...

Maybe I'll take Abi up on her offer to hang out as a Jagerkin after all.

Edit: All of the costumes seem fun, but you're right, a lot of them are either street clothes or very restrictive.

Hm. Have you read Y the Last Man?

I think that the nice thing about the Endless for something like this is that they can appear in a number of different styles. There's nothing wrong at all with playing Death with shorter hair. It is often frizzy, though.

I also like the idea of doing Delirium instead. She's not nearly so often played up, though she's a wonderful character. You could just wander around babbling nonsense for a day. Did I mention that it's an excuse to where some of your craziest socks?

I will attempt to find further ideas...

Heroines have long hair because it's dead sexy.

What comes to my mind is Chiana, from Farscape. I suppose because she's so gothic (right down to being bat-shit crazy) and so identifiable.

Lieutenant Yarr had short hair on Star Trek the Next Generation.

Cat Woman doesn't really have any hair when she has her suit on.

Trinity from Matrix -- short hair and kinda gothy too. I think you would make a smashing Trinity, actually.

THAT's not a bad idea, actually.

Also if you like the idea of short shorts and large pistols, Revy from Black Lagoon?
