My sister just brought home a kitten. First off, I am not an animal person let alone a cat person. Secondly, we have a dog and he is currently not dealing too well with the kitten. They are kept separately but he is desperate to meet it. Meet it and kill it or meet it and chill with it IDK. Hopefully he just wants to chill but the kitten is too ( Read more... )

Eeek! Hopefully your dog and cat get along.

Here's some cat advice:
- Get some cat litter and a litter box. That is unless you don't mind it doing its business outside on your lawn/backyard.
- Since it's a kitten, give it a ball of yarn or hang a string attached with some ornament like a feather from some height or give it a ping pong ball (a ball of newspaper will do too) and it should be occupied with that for at least a few hours.
- Get a scratch post or make your own and train your car to use it. This is essential or your cat's going to draw its claws on all your furniture or carpet. Mine did anyway.

That's all I can think of now! :D

My dog is thankfully fine with the cat.
The cat though is very...whiny? It won't stop meowing!!! We mostly keep it in a room with food and water because it's too little to be let out into the rest of the house. So I guess it's lonely. Are cats very needy?

Only when they're kittens I think. They constantly want to be played with, always meowing etc. When they grow up though, you can leave them alone and they'll be just fine. This is of course not including the personality of your cat but generally, when they get older, they don't need as much attention.
