This is so awesome! I don't even know where to begin.
When you sent me the pics last night, I peeked but was too tired to comment. (And I wasn't sure what I was looking at.) So I'll start with you upstairs - I just love the colors you chose for the walls. And the floor is wonderful. I've always had wood floors and I just know you're going to love them. Oh your bathroom before & after is truly something. Now I see why it all took so long. Is that a new front door too? It's very pretty. Was the fireplace already there?
Your garden is exceptional. I noticed that it was the perfect scale to shoot BJDs. The resin kids will LOVE it and compliment it perfectly. I see so much of Kyoto in it. You really outdid yourself.
Now I must ask about the duck ... did it just move in on its own? Thanks for the sharing.
The front door's a couple of years old. The previous one, much less attractive to begin with, got...umm...broken. Fireplace is as old as the house, but like the rest of the living room, it's no longer pink. (Word to the wise - allow your teenage daughter's taste to mature before allowing her to choose colors for family spaces!) The duck is a wood duck decoy that I bought and repainted about 25-30 years ago. It's been in that pond for ... a long time, now. (They make sandhill crane decoys, too - I could paint one white, like the ones they have in Japan . . . )
Granddaughter is walking _everywhere_, especially if there are things in that direction which she shouldn't be playing with! She also enjoys animal sounds "What's a monkey say?" "Hoo-oo-oo"
I've tried to use shrubs which won't get too big, too fast - of course, there may be one or two that'll just decide to take over . . . That's what pruners are for, I guess!
I am looking forward to watching things fill in, and creating little environments with different shapes and textures.

Thanks, Rose!
I wasn't sure how they'd work out - especially my bedroom. Now, the contractor is telling me he'd like to paint his grandchild's room in the same scheme!
Looking around, I can see where each of the gang can have their own place - gold for 'Zomi's, Kisho-Ryuu's loft marked by the iron bars of the railing, Phoenix's place will be red and gold, and James' will be in the chocolate latte color . . .
The place looks fantastic Bruce!! And I can't believe your granddaughter is a year old already! Wasn't it just yesterday that she was born?! Time flies ;)
Was there a Dolpa yesterday?! (~_^) (Gen was born a few hours after NYDolpa 4) It doesn't seem a long time, but when I look back, a lot has happened, a lot has changed since she was born. Yesterday, Genevieve, her mom and I went to the aquarium - that little girl walked through the _whole_ place! (She stayed longest at the playspace, though!)
We've run into a bit of trouble with the house - _nothing_ that we have matches the colors of the walls now, and we need all new curtains, rugs and accessories! (>_<)

Granddaughter is walking all over, and beginning to talk. She's just about perfectly proportioned, LOL. (Biased much? Me?? LOL)

I'm looking forward to it as well - as yet, all the dolls are still in boxes. In the attic. Behind stuff.
