Edit: Alright, after two hours on the phone with tech support the problem is fixed! The only side effect was that I had to reinstall most of my programs because something was terribly wrong with my system. PHEW!!!
First you say the old and new password both DONT work, but then you said you got in with the old password.
So, the old one DIDNT work, but then it suddenly DID work again just once?
If so that is very odd and a sign that your laptop is possessed. Get holy water ASAP.
I need more info. Is this a windows XP password?
If yes, try name "administrator" and no pass, then the old pass, and anything else you can thing of.
And remember to try caps and stuff just in case.
If that doesnt work.. hmmm. There is a way to reset windows passwords, but I dont have the tools myself right now. I can get them if you need, but check with other geeks you know in person first.
but DONT PANIC! Im sure there is a way! Very odd though. VERY ODD!!
ok, here's the rundown. My computer has a screensaver. Once the screensaver is up it takes a password to turn it off.
1. Try to turn off screensaver. 2. New password that I set last night doesn't work. 3. Old password DOES work for some odd reason. 4. Go into user accounts to try and change password again, because I think it must not have worked the first time 5. Old password doesn't work in user accounts>change password 6. New password doesn't work in user accounts> change password

Um.... have you seriously not read my entry? LOL... thank you for all of your work on this, but the whole post has been erased and rewritten for a few hours now to let everyone know that the problem was fixed.

Well poop. I'm an obsessive problem fixer. Maybe there is a 12 step program for me.
I think I read your entry, and then read a few comments, and promptly forgot the entry. Or maybe I loaded my friends page when I woke up, and then didn't read it for a few hours, and didn't notice the change. In any case I feel silly but now I know how to fix that problem when I come to it.

So there's no password that works.

I couldn't find the program I thought I had. I would say use the bo2k thing. Remove it when you are done.
