Oh, great. Our internet just stopped working. =P I'm going to type this anyway, in hopes (probably vain ones) that it will right itself by the time I'm done. Otherwise I might have to go shoot the DSL modem dead, quite dead. Blasted cruddy piece of technology, that--it's always going out for absolutely no reason ( Read more... )

BTW, the ACT was a piece of cake, and I didn't really try very hard! :-D

That's encouraging to hear! ;) Are you good at math? How did you do on that section? And if you took any sample tests, did you think they were as hard as the real test, or harder?

No, I'm not great at math, compared to most, but I didn't think it was too difficult. And yes, the test questions were harder than the real thing. :-D

When I had to take a math profficiency test, I found it much better to go through a condensed math review book than my math book (I used Saxon). It made things soooo much faster and easier to review. I used Cliff Notes' Algebra review book. I'd highly recommend it!

The used ones are really cheap online: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076456370X/qid=1126742659/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6931992-9215233?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

(They also have an Algebra II one, a geometry one, and one for most any kind of math.)

Oooh, that's a good idea--thank you! :D I'm definitely going to order one of those. I used Saxon too in school, and they're good, but also make reviewing rather difficult.

Hey, I am possibly interested in ordering from BMG sometime, but I think I saw you tell someone that if you sent them a referral you would get points or something. So, if you want to send me a referral, when/if I order from them, I'll mention you. :)

Cool! They have lots of Christian CDs, so I'm sure you'd find something you like--plus it's good for gift-giving because you can actually afford to buy people CDs! ;)

Anyway, I sent you a referral email, so if you ever do decide to do it, you'll have the referral right there. All you have to do is follow the link through that email, and they'll automatically put 5 free CDs on my account. :)

Thank you! :D I'll hang onto the email and be sure and use it when I order.

I reccomend getting an ACT Test Preop book. I got one of those (and I took a class offered at my school for 4 weeks, but is was a waste of time and I quit going after 3 weeks.) and it helped a lot. The book has several practice tests where you can pace yourself and it has explained answers. I liked that because you could practice several different times. Oh, and it has sections for each of the test sections where it tells you what you should know, gives you tips and even more sample problems with indepth explanations. :) It worked for me, I got a 31. :P

I wonder if the library would have one! I do intend to get one of the full sample tests from the ACT site, just to get a better idea of how I'd do, but I probably should get a book too.

I can't do math either. :( Today I did the first lesson in my algebra book; it was really simple: just adding and subtracting different kinds of fractions. I missed at least four, just because of little mistakes where I wasn't thinking. I just don't have the head for it! :|
