All is well in the Wide World of Pants, which is actually not so wide these days, and has no affiliation with David Letterman.

The thing is, everything is changing and I don't feel the same, if we must quote Keane. One of those crossroad dealies. We shall persevere, even in the face of chronic unemployment, changing friendships, mental parents and ( Read more... )

Greenwoods, Laurie Greenwood's Volume II and Audrey's.

Seriously, when will McNally Robinson be coming here?! It's the provinces capital, full of historical researchers and patriots and the like - if we can't support a prairie bookstore, who can?? Look into this, will you? We're waiting....

Edmonton is already populated by Chapters and, as you have outlined here, several prominent, independent, prairie bookstores. The McNally's tend to lean towards markets with a more open independent field as part of their goal is to encourage independent bookselling not compete. Also consider that Audrey's owner Steve Budnarchuk is the current president of the Canadian Booksellers Association and Paul McNally the outgoing president. While buisness is buisness, there is a certain understanding built by being part of the same association.

You should apply at Chapters and Coles, as well. Both are often hiring and its a good way to get into the bookselling industry. Many people at McNally have worked at one of these chains prior to their employment with us.

I have never been to either of the Greenwoods but Audrey's is a fantastic store. I went there with I Hate Jazz a couple of times when he was still in Edmonton.
