I thought it was a bit early in the day to see some of the Broadway "colour." Apparently, it is never too early.

Law has started walking to work, so today I walked halfway with him down Broadway to get a coffee. It's a beautiful day. I alternately thank and damn Starbucks for the delicious Caramel Macchiato.

On my way back, around 10th, I see ( Read more... )

He is so ridiculous, but if you've been his student, you can't help but have a weird appreciation for him. Almost affection, but not quite.

We didn't go to Starbucks in Edmonton very often - but when I go here, it makes me miss Edmonton a bit less. Makes no sense, but there's something very big city about a non-fat extra-hot caramel macchiato.

There was a kid who used to ride a unicycle infront of my apartment back in Deadmonton. He wore a funny hat while he did it, though. An umbrella hat. Rain or Shine. It might as well have been a beany, for the comedy of it.

I always thought he was on to something. Like he knew he was going to be cooler than all the other kids in highschool, so he was just getting a head start on his unusual party talents--"Yea, I can ride a unicycle. Can't you?"

I bet he can swallow fire, say the alphabet backwards, and do magic, too.

Hee. Law thinks he can do magic, but he hasn't tried any alternative forms of transportation yet, so we're cool...

Did I tell you that one of my former piano students is going to circus school in Montreal, presumably to be an acrobat?? Crazy times.

Once people start riding penny farthings around though, that's when I'll be hopping on the bandwagon. Google it, I still forget how to paste tidy links.

I'm all over that.

Also, whenever I see one of those tricycles, I automatically think of those two strong men from Family Guy... Barnagy and Finneous?

AAAHHHHhhhhh!!!!!!

I passed him on the sidewalk around 12:30 today, and he stopped me and made me promise that I would come and visit him within two weeks (as he is leaving in May for a year). Please come with me! Please! For the love!

Congrats again on the job! You're a bigshot now.

Oh yeah, he was riding his "bike." Last summer he let me take it for a spin down his back alley. Quite comfortable.

Ridiculous.

Yes, I would definitely visit Gyula the Insane Hungarian with you.

I noticed he didn't ride it past me today - prolly rides a bit too close to the mud puddles.

Congrats, congrats. Working with Ian G. will be fun I think. And I too love McNally Robinson. I love the tree staircase and could spend all day up in the kids section... Next time I'm in Saskabush I will say hello.

Definitely come say hi! And if you know of any SK children's (or other) authors you think we should have in, let me know. I'd like to try more kids stuff in the summer.
