[Backdating is a go! That message was a little bit unnerving though, Minato had to admit.]

Rabbits were supposed to figure out who the wolves are and survive. The wolves were out to kill the rabbits. [Basically.]

Are you all right, Meltzer-san?

"I'm fine."

It's like waking up. With a year-old bullet wound suddenly giving you trouble again. But he's not particularly keen on discussing it.

"Anything else?"

Not much. It's not a rule, but it was based on a game that became real.

"Okay. Thanks.

How are you holding up?"

It seems that it was kill before someone killed you.

He sighs.

"I suppose it was too much to hope that this sort of event would stop with the Queen gone."

I'm not sure we can count on anything being that straightforward.

Text is good. He knows they need to talk, but he's not sure if he can look at her just yet.

Hey.

Now if only he had planned what to say.

Lousy event, huh?

Out of all those she and Dave attacked, and those she attacked alone, she feels most guilty about Mark. He didn't defend himself. He trusted her. Thought she'd 'snap' out of it. And she didn't. Fuck.

Yeah.

Shockingly, he can say that and even kind of mean it. Sort of. More than he has on past occasions, anyway.

What about you?

Stiff. Damp. Managing.

He has learned something new about the mansion today. That's a plus.

Can we

He stops. He wants to see Alex, in person, but he can't really articulate why.

Have you eaten today?

Oh hey there's a really obvious social cue. The odds are against him, but Alex actually manages to respond in an appropriate manner.

No.

...Excuse me. We said, 'manages to respond in an appropriate manner'.

Want to get lunch?

THRILL! At the letters being typed one by one!

MARVEL! At the age and a half it takes him to hit send!

WONDER! At the fact that he managed to not fumble the moment entirely!

While admittedly he could have phrased it less like an accidental pick-up line, we're sure everyone is impressed by the extent to which Alex isn't hiding in his room forever. (The fact that Mark is like the human equivalent of a safe space probably helps.) (Also that holy crap did the guy get drowned or something? Text is a really inadequate way of ascertaining somebody's well-being.)

I would.

I'll meet you downstairs.

After drying off a little, that is.
