Although I am fairly certain he is gone, I feel that it would be best to confirm it with others.

What does this mean?

[Anyone in the vicinity of the music room might hear someone inside, idly picking out a hesitant tune on the piano. There are no chords and no sense of tempo or distinction in volume, just single notes, played mostly with a single hand.

I've never been able to speak English. [He laughs.] I didn't pay any attention to it in school and now I don't even have an accent!

It would just be nice if I could remember how to speak Japanese as well.

I realize that escape from this place is near impossible, if not completely so.

Regardless, I'd like to know what people have tried in the past, and what theories anyone might have as to what could work.
