Best Show on Television

Carnivale crept up on me. I had caught the odd episode early on during the first season, but was never around enough to ensure that I kept up it. Later on it was difficult to get back in as the plot had advanced to a point where I had no clue what was happening ( Read more... )

The commentary on the DVDs is pretty good too. They obviously just got finished with Season 2 when they recorded, so they're eager to talk about the show. Much better than some commentaries where the director starts watching the episode because he hasn't seen it in two years.

I need to get my Lodz icon back.

Neat. They are on my list to buy soon so the commentaries are first on my list to watch.

Thanks for the review, man ... I was curious before, and now I'm definitely interested. Btw, you may want to check out Kingdom Hospital at some point, Season 1 is on DVD now, and I think it's good mix of bizarre, supernatural, and ER-style drama.

Hope all's well.

You have me curious. I missed it during its run so perhaps I'll have to rent them and watch.

Dude. I know you didn't just bust on Twin Peaks. Tell me you didn't.

I busted on the use of one character. In general I found Twin Peaks to be one of the best shows made for television, although the ending did seem a bit rushed (given the situation the networks put Lynch in, its understandable). Hell I even thought that Fire Walk with Me was passable.

It also had one of the best opening credit themes/scenes ever.

If you like Twin Peaks though you really should watch Carnivale. You can love both, like Star Trek and Star Wars.

Whew! I was worried for a second there. Twin Peaks has a very special place in my heart. (Now if only I could get season 2 and an unfucked-up version of the Pilot on DVD...)

I'm told I'd love Carnivale. Sadly, I lack the network necessary to view it. :(

Season 2 will be available in Region 2 in March or so I am told.

The rights to the US release go to Paramount in September, so it wont be until 2007 before that happens at least.
