5. Bloody mess

Apr 25, 2011 10:15

[Waking up in the clinic is familiar. This time, it's with a neck wound and four or five of those brightly coloured Easter eggs. One of them had been both hindrance and help the evening before when she was bitten in the neck.

She has a vague recollection of being saved by some kids when the elevator didn't work. She's grateful.

She sits up, pushing ( Read more... )

Thanks for the warning.

I've - been turned into everything but a vampire.

[ Pauses. She's - a bit uncertain about whether or not she should be worried. Marian's turned out to be a friendly face within the castle that Piper wouldn't mind getting to know a bit better. A vampire bite - well, that sort of complicates things. ] You're - are you alright?

Piper! You have!?

[Marian sits up in the bed. It's so good to hear from this woman.]

I will be just fine, they say. Would you... [Suddenly shy.] Would you mind coming to the clinic? It would be nice to see you...

Not a vampire. But - [ a wendigo does not a vampire make. ]

[ A touch startled: ] I'll be there in a bit. I - am a bit hopeless with these corridors.

[ Remembering: ] I have long brown hair and I'm wearing a light blue top and jeans. If that helps at all. [ ... ] I'll probably be the one carrying an open journal and peering at it intently. [ Smiles ]

[ And then she leaves her room to make her way to the clinic. ]

[Happy now!]

Oh, follow the signs on the walls! The clinic is on the second floor and the elevator opens straight into it! If it's fully functional again! If there's any problems, just ask someone! ...But beware of the vampire....

I'll be on the look-out for you! Oh, and I have long, brown hair myself!

[ It takes some time, but Piper finds her way to the clinic. Travelling all those floors is - well, it's exhausting. Piper wishes she had a teleporation power. ]

[ When she enters the clinic, she looks up from her journal. She thinks she spots Marian, long brown hair and all - she reminds her of Prue, though, she had darker hair, but the length is similar in her opinion - and walks over to her. Tentatively and rather softly: ] Marian?

[While Marian awaits, she takes the chance to finally sample some chocolate from one of the eggs. Hearing a woman's voice, she looks up. There's a dark-haired woman in front of her, dressed as described. Marian is all smiles.]

Piper!

[ Piper smiles, relieved. Though, the smile disappears as she realises where she is. Please forgive Piper - she's all business: ] Are you alright from the vampire bite? Not experiencing anything ... out of the ordinary? [ From what she remembers of being turned into a wendigo, Marian's arms are hairless and she's not sweating like she's in a sauna. All good signs, in Piper's opinion. Marian's not turning into a wendigo. ]

[Marian doesn't mind, she rather observes Piper observing. She looks at her seriously.]

They say I'll be fine, that vampire bites of that kind don't leave any lasting damage. I thank you for your concern.

You... are looking for something, aren't you? Some sort of indication? Have you seen things like this before, Piper?

[ And here Piper will breathe a sigh of relief. ] I have to admit, I've never heard of a vampire bite whose bite doesn't, well, turn the victim. I'm - glad that you're missing out on that. [ More like, thank god. ]

[ She runs her hand through her hair. ] Like I've said, I've been in situations like this before. I'm very glad that you've been given the all clear. Being bitten by anything - bees, flies, freaking vampires - is not fun.

[ She sits in a chair beside Marian's bed. Closing her journal, she places it on her lap. It's weird to be talking to someone who she's only communicated with via the journal. ] You been here long?

[Marian finds that she's been holding her breath the whole time Piper talks, and breathes out. She's relieved by what Piper says, she realises.]

I'm glad too. If you say it, I'll be even more relieved. It was not fun, I can tell you. That woman... was feral.

[She can't help shuddering. Will she feel the effects of the shock later? She knows the clinic insists on keeping here for a few hours because of that. Having Piper there, by her side, makes her a lot calmer. This woman radiates something... a 'no-messing-with-me-I-mean-business', in a caring way. Marian likes that, she likes it a lot. It's strange how well the voice fits to the person behind it. Having Piper around feels so right. Her smile to Piper is warm when she responds.]

Here, in the clinic?

[ Piper gives her a sympathetic smile. ] I bet. But at least that's over now. And you can avoid her while she's being all ... feral. The safest place for you to be is probably the clinic. [ And if the vampire comes in here? Well, Piper can only hope that when she waves her hands, it's the freezing that comes from it. ] Hopefully someone will stop her before she hurts anyone else.

[ She grins. She should've been more specific. ] Yes. I only read your message, well, you know when I read your message. If I had opened my journal sooner, I probably would've been here sooner. [ These journals remind her of answering machines. Annoying and yet sort of helpful. ]

I wonder if she's a new resident here, or a resident that has turned into a vampire? There are others here as well, I spoke to one just now, but they're not... like her. It seems there are ways to kill a vampire. Thing is: you can't really die here, the castle revives you.

Oh, don't worry about not being here sooner! I'd just been asleep! It's lovely to have you here now! [She's blushing. When she does like someone, she tends to be a bit eager.] Besides, you have to keep those things closed a lot, it's like a constant blur otherwise.

[ Or quite possibly a vampire herself. Piper's glad she hasn't walked into one yet. ] Consider it noted. [ At least she won't need a whitelighter to heal her if she ends up seriously injured. It's good to know the castle has that under control. ] This castle is like a supernatural magnet. Attracts everyone and everything.

Good to know. I'm too new at this. [ Gives her a small smile. She taps her journal with her fingers: ] These journals are annoying to carry around. [ And then the eggs catch her attention. The bane of her existance today. She nods towards the Easter eggs she can see in the clinic. ] I see that the eggs aren't just a thing that invaded my room. Have you tried one?

[Piper is quick with absorbing details and boiling it all down to a stock that holds all the necessary facts, Marian can tell. It's fascinating to see how it seemingly effortlessly clicks in her head and her economical remarks say it all. She's caring, but she's not making a fuss, whether it's new magic or old. It's heaven to meet such a person.

Marian smiles and extends the open egg, filled with tasty chocolate.]

Please, have some! I didn't get the chance to try them yesterday.

[ Piper grins. ] I'm not quite sure I'm ready to try these eggs that have been lying around the castle. I found a pool of them in my room yesterday. I'm glad that they're gone. [ So freaking glad. ] Some of them open to have confetti inside of them. [ Piper takes the egg, anyway. She hadn't touched any of the eggs in her room - only opened them to find chocolate or confetti inside - simply because she distrusts everything to do with the castle. Hearing from more experienced residents has her on her guard when it comes to these sorts of stunts. ]

[ She may not eat it right now, but it feels like a token of friendship from Marian. That and Marian's chocolate eggs may not be as dangerous as the ones in her room. Whether they are dangerous at all, Piper doesn't know. Believing the worst in magic is what she does best. ] You're more game than me. I didn't eat any of my eggs; just tried to toss them into the corridor to no avail. [ She smiles, though. She found eggs everywhere yesterday. She's thankful that they're gone. Her pockets feel ( ... )

[Marian enjoys her turn to observe now. Piper is careful, not exactly mistrusting but more prone to careful scrutiny that Marian. Marian loves to find things out, to spy - but she's more ready to try things she shouldn't try. Guy would gladly point that out to her.

In fact, Piper reminds her a lot about Guy. Like him, she's probably not a person who will give her friendship and trust easily.]

Confetti? A whole pool of eggs? Poor you, what a mess! You know, I wished for one egg to be a heavy weapon so I could hit that vampire in the head. It worked! But we can't wish away the eggs or these things when they happen. Last week, there were acorns and tiny soot creatures everywhere. Yesterday, it was eggs. Oval things seems to be in fashion this spring. It's a bit daunting if the oval objects grow larger every time, though. [Laughing, munching another egg.] I had never tasted chocolate before I came to Paradisa. I fear I might become addicted to it.
