[She had to be dreaming. Had to be, except for the distinct sense of waking up that started Amelia's adventure into--wherever she was. Down in the dark had been bad enough; on some cot, surrounded by strangers, with the entire place wobbling worse than any Sand Steamer she'd ever been on. But then she'd gone up, out into the sunlight--
And saw something she couldn't begin to describe.
Water. More than she'd ever seen in her life, stretching out into the horizon and beyond. Enough for a whole city, or maybe the whole planet, just there, right in front of her. It couldn't be real.]
[Amelia frankly couldn't care less about this guy's image; she wasn't one to swoon or be easily impressed, and she definitely didn't care for the name "Missy."]
Don't call me that. [But if he could shed some light on her situation, Amelia might not have completely wasted her breath by talking to him.] Do you know where we are, or how we got here?
If I told you this is all part of a usual change in the world that happens because we've all been kidnapped by an unknown, magical, dimension-crossing power, is there any chance in hell you'd believe me?
[Amelia still wasn't impressed. There were enough people around that she probably didn't have to rely on this guy for information anyway. She just needed to find someone who could provide a rational explanation for a completely unrealistic situation.]
[Amelia was sorely tempted to abide by that wave, but she knew she was in a no-win scenario. Going away would be listening to this man, while staying would just be accepting his bait--neither of which was going to settle well.
So she opted for the later, though not before giving the man a flat look.]
The name of this place is Paradisa. Normally, when you'd arrive, you would be arriving in a large castle. That castle--or more likely, whatever's controlling it--brings people from all sorts of worlds to it. No one's sure how, why, or how we can leave outside of it's own will.
You, however, seem to have arrived here during a time where things have changed. Whether we've been sent somewhere or whether we're actually still in Paradisa... it's hard to say. Either way, it won't look like this for very long. A couple of weeks, at most.
The collective masses have tried the usual--explosives, magic, exploration, reverse psychology, that sort of thing. This is really the part where you should start asking around, since I don't know the details to everything.
[he looks a little less smug. that stuff gets boring.]

What in the world is going on?

Well, you don't have to take it from me. I've just given you the short version of what everyone else will tell you.

[One person trying to pass off a delusion she could shrug off. But honestly, this guy expected every single person here to tell the same story?]

[he waves her off as if to say, "go on, give it a try."]

That doesn't sound any less ridiculous than what you said before.

[Not that Amelia has any more plausible explanations. But between the insanity and how smug this guy is, she's not entirely accepting.]
And there's nothing we can do besides going along with it.
