[Now just who was playing that dratted music while James was attempting to find a quiet space for him to test out his wished for violin? With a rather miserable sigh, he trudges down the hall, having been wandering about the castle for that one spot, and enters the room, violin case in one hand and dressed in just a button up shirt and slacks.
Promptly ignoring the Wii he just levels this look at him, before his eyes are drawn to the television, which distracts him from his complaint.]
And just what proof can you offer of that fact? [Rather disbelieving here..but he's also a touch fearful. He is after all a properly raised Victorian Englishman.]
I love how you play God I do xD I do apologize for James's questions though >>jamesholmesAugust 7 2011, 02:31:30 UTC
Faith in what? If there was a God, I doubt what I see in my world would occur...[Druitt, for example, wouldn't have been Jack the Ripper, and he wouldn't have needed his blasted suit to say alive.]
[Stuttering isn't a good thing to do so he'll fall quiet for a moment to think on things, though he won't full admit to it yet, then zero in on His face.]
That is a thought that constantly crosses my mind, and its something that anyone that knows any of The Five, would know. So that's...hardly proof in and of itself. The stereo? A trick of the mind, with your abilities, obviously you have a strong telepathic ability of some sort, making auditory hallucinations is hardly a stretch for someone who can keep up with my thoughts. So then, that would also explain how you knew about Druitt and my wish that he wasn't Jack the Ripper, it is hardly substantial proof that you are God, but more a strong telepath.
[And he's sounding rather smug as he finishes off his deduction here.]
It's a well-thought out hypothesis and it'd be valid if that was all I could do.
[You know that lake far to the north? Guess where the two of you are right now. You're in the shallows so you're not about to drown but that water's still a little high. God's smiling down if only because standing on water provides extra height.]
[Oh that's just fun you know that? At least James can swim, and well there is that benefit of lacking his suit in times like this. So he's treading water as he looks back up at you, still not impressed though it takes him a moment to form a better hypothesis.]
A telepathic being with the ability to teleport. And either telekinetic capabilities focused so finely so as to appear to be standing on water or hydrokinetic powers to form a dense barrier of water to stand on focused solely on your feet.
[God just laughs and lets the water draw away so he falls on surprisingly dry land considering it formed the lake's bottom. He holds out His hand to help James up.]
And if I bring a plague down on the land? What would that make me then?
[James just sighs as the waters drawn away, and he lands rather painfully on his back, before taking the hand and starting to pull himself up, noticing the dry land but choosing to not ask about it...for the moment.]
Depends on the plague. A plague of locusts would make you a telepathic, telekinetic, hydrokinetic insect manipulator. Or your telepathic abilities are so grand as to touch the minds of even the smallest insect.
As for a plague of disease, your telekinetic abilities are grand enough to work down on the molecular level and create a disease in the untold billions. As this would require considerable focus this makes the possibility of your telepathic abilities being so grand as to touch insect minds more of a possibility.
That's a lot of kinetic. [He's amused.] Occam's Razor states that when competing hypotheses are equal in other respects the one that makes the least assumptions is most likely to be right. According to one, I am an absurdly powerful telepathic, telekinetic, hydrokinetic, insect manipulating man. The other states I am God.
You are an unusual man, did you ever stop to consider that?
Yes Occam's Razor stats that, however, there is one other possibility. That you are a Hyperspecies Abnormal with considerable telepathic abilities, grand enough to create an illusionary world where your mental form is what I see before me.
In other words, you are a giant bug with telepathic powers and a god complex.
Promptly ignoring the Wii he just levels this look at him, before his eyes are drawn to the television, which distracts him from his complaint.]
Is that...one of those Wii things?

[Don't ask for more proof. Don't test Him. You might end up with an extra hand.]

I am sorry to say that I can not take you at your word sir. No detective leaves stones unturned, and unless I see proof, I can not believe you.

[It's a half-rhetorical question. He isn't defensive or argumentative. He's smiling as He speaks.]
