[Peace Patrol Headquarters]

[Meeting time! Everyone come in, mingle, greet the newbies. Yuan's sitting at the front of the room, surrounded by more papers than usual, and looking...particularly grim? That seems strange, considering that they've won the big fight.

Haven't they? ...Maybe he's just tired.]

[Alan is just going to observe for a little while to get a feel of the place, taking a few sips of coffee here and there.]

Thank you that was the idea. Even if it did put limitations on what I could do.

Yes you could say that, it's essentially the same idea, as well as, the better opportunity to keep an eye on a colleague of mine. [He shrugs as he settles himself to better lean against a wall.]

Worried about him? [Alan's tone indicates he's done something of the sort himself.]

[How to explain this...} You could say that yes, mostly to keep him out of trouble or causing more. I think he's done enough.

[Alan nods.] Good luck.

I'll need it, considering he's already incarcerated. [He's shifting again to lean better on the wall, he's not all that comfortable standing if Alan looks closely.]

He's not one of the ones that teamed up with Riful, is he? [He doesn't notice James' discomfort for the time being.]

Unfortunately yes he is. Nikola Tesla. [He says the name with a sigh at the end, he's been through this before with the man still in some discomfort yet and he's glad it's gone unnoticed.]

Oh. [He's not quite sure what to say to that.] Then I suppose this gives you the chance to keep tabs on him.

If he helped with the sanctuaries, what would make him turn on everyone in the castle?

[Really Oh fits the situation perfectly. It's normal for him to be saving Nikola...sadly.] Yes it most certainly does, for my peace of mind as well as a friends.

[A laugh, that's funny Alan. Nikola help?] Nikola, didn't help with the Sanctuary Network, for the most part he was interested in, reviving his long dead ancestral race. But my, thought is when the other friend of ours that is here now, but left not terribly long ago, did leave the first time, he...decided to...act out. [He's talking about Nikola like he's a child, and it really isn't that far from the truth sometimes.]

Ah - I thought you meant he was your colleague in the sense of helping with them.

[Sounds a little like the antics of a certain foster son of Alan's.] I see. Leaving is generally not something that people respond to well, though I don't think that justifies bad actions.

No, no, Nikola is, a colleague, a friend I suppose from back in our Oxford days. The experiment that turned him, into a vampire, gave me my, enhanced intelligence.

[If James knew about that he would so totally agree.] It truly doesn't, justify anything really. Some of his plots, even in our own world, make me question if it's all an entire elaborate affair to get Helen to return his affection, in a non-platonic way.

[Oh, wrong type of colleague. Alan guessed as much.] What sort of experiment were you trying to do? [Clearly not a normal one.]

Is Helen the one who left? [Love makes people do crazy things.]

[It's okay it's an easy enough mistake, he's not bothered by it.] We were experimenting with, ancient vampire blood. [Because it's completely normal for Oxford students to ya know, play with it even though he's trying to act like it is.]

Yes Helen is the one who left, Helen Magnus. [You have nooo idea, James blames the death ray incident on it.]

[That would be normal...except it's not.] What for?

Ah, I can't say I've met her. Was she involved with that experiment as well?

[Even in his world it's not, don't feel bad.] To see what the unique properties of it were of course.

She apparently came and then left, and then recently arrived. But yes she was involved with that experiment.
