Case 3: The Offer

Aug 24, 2011 15:25

[James is sounding oddly tired considering he hasn't been up to much recently, well not physically at least.  But he also sounds, slightly excited really.]

If anyone would like to learn another language, I am more then happy to teach you, if you would like.  As a precaution of course in case things happen again like they did the last few days.

[ And someone looks up from where they've been sat reading ] With the filter now again in place would we be able to speak another language or would that be automatically translated?

....[He's not going to admit she has him there, he's not.] I have one person who would like to learn more then just English, but we're doing a sort of, language exchange. I'm not entirely certain if she would like to learn German considering how harsh a language it is.

Then perhaps practise elsewhere? [ Don't make her run through them all [

Considering practice was your idea to start with...[He's giving her a little smile.] But we shall see, I'm not entirely certain where I'm going to teach her anyway, but it will be easier then her being in my head. [Let's get his off of his language issues yeah?]

[ She may stare at you for a moment until she realises where you're going. It's been a long few days since she's arrived, okay? Besides, teasing him on this stops her mind wandering; her book wasn't all that captivating but he's free to change the topic ] What exchange are you considering?

[He's taking a sip of tea and knows exactly how she feels. He's really starting to feel it on his body the walking and all, so anything to keep his mind busy is nice.] She would like to learn English as she found herself relying on her telepathy non-verbally earlier, and probably French as she seemed to like it when I spoke it to her, and hopefully another so I could learn all three of her own languages, as she's not from any permutation of Earth.

That would make a rather interesting endeavour. [ Jealous, her? No. Although new languages could be rather nice to know, just in case ] Then, if you have the time, perhaps you could help with my accent.

I thought it might be, met her when I played my violin in the lobby. [He didn't expect her to be jealous, was just wondering if she wanted to know who.] I always have the time for you Helen, you know that. Your accent in your French or something else?

It's been some time since I've heard you play. [ Jealous over the exchange, she'll clarify. She's not that type of lady, particularly not with friends. She'd be more inclined to push for such a thing ] Perhaps my French, as that's seeming to perhaps need use.

I could play for you any time you like, anything you would like as well. [That's what he thought she was jealous over, he hasn't even thought of them like that. Besides she's married there's no hope there.] We can work on it whenever you would like, perhaps you could teach a few of the, younger sort to watch what they say in it as well.

I'd like that, but perhaps after you've rested. [ It makes for better performances, and she's been awake just as much to know how much he has.

While he may not have thought of them in that way she knows someone else has. What, she can't read two books at once? ]

I did notice that message. [ Oh, Paige. And teach? Not such a stretch. Languages? Fluency helps but... her lectures are apparently boring enough ] Perhaps. If there's a call for your services then we'll see.

If you are certain then, I don't mind. [It does, and for the staying awake thing? He's been in really no mood to sleep, but he blames his over active mind. New Languages wouldn't let him sleep.

He was doing the same thing, and he was rather surprised she didn't bug him about the blushing and all or the cane comment.]

Oh, so you did...[Not one of his finer moments really. But it was a thought, even if he was on good terms with Paige, he'd rather not see her hurt.] Yes we will see, it was just a thought however.

I may have to find something for it. [ She's not above drugging your tea. Okay maybe she is, not that she has supplies anyway

She's picking her moments wisely and bringing it up in all due appropriateness ]

I was a little surprised by some of the languages that were known. It would seem that dead languages are not always so... dead.

You just may hmm? [She drugs his tea he will figure it out, Nikola's locked up remember?

And that's always wise, he's getting used to having someone around him again in the same living space.]

I know it is rather interesting isn't it? But with so many forms of Earth and different worlds, it's not really much of a surprise. I saw Latin, even chatted with someone in it. What else did you see?

I believe that I have something in mind. [ Another reason why she wouldn't

I was replied to in Morse Code. I spoke mainly in English during the period, though I recognised many languages which were given as part of a multiple repeat and translate, Latin included.
