Sam woke up in a really cramped apartment. Normally, cramped wasn't an issue when he was just rooming with Dean, but given that there were several people in this cramped space and he was rather tall, they were still getting used to getting around each other.

When he found out he had a job, he was more than happy to get out of the house.

He made his way through the streets of Paris, letting his eyes wander over the buildings as he went. He had always wanted to really travel, but life kept getting in the way. Now he was actually taking the opportunity to travel, as a weird gift of the castle, and he wasn't really one to look a gifthorse in the mouth. He had already been in the castle long enough to know the catches.

He rounded the corner to the bakery -- apparently it was a line of work he was stuck with now, and blinked, startled when he saw who was inside.

"Hey, Rose."

By the time her new employees started to filter in, Rose was in the midst of more baking. She'd stepped out to the front for a moment, flour brushed over the tip of her nose. The man who addressed her was tall. Nearly a ridiculous amount of tall, but she was going to have to deal with that and the low ceiling in the back later.

"Which one are you?" She asked, but it was odd when she felt like she already knew it.

"I was expecting a few to come in today, but you might be the first to show. If you want, you can help clear tables. I'll be done in the back in a bit."

Right. She went home and came back. He hadn't seen her much since she returned to the castle, so he shouldn't have been surprised that she didn't recognize him. He took a breath and nodded, before starting to shed his coat to get to work.

"It's Sam," he said with a nod. "And I'll get right on that."

"Alright, then," Rose replied moving to finish what she was doing. After a bit, she glanced up at him, in the middle of frosting small cookies.

"Have you ever been t'Paris?" It was small talk, sure, but she felt like she'd seen him before.

He glanced back at her as he worked on setting up the tables, before shaking his head. "Nope. This is my first time."

It was a place he'd always wanted to go -- where Jessica had always wanted to go, and after she was gone it became little more than a pipe dream. But he was here now, so ... maybe that counted for something.

"Well, if you want to know any places where you can really see something amazing, I'd be glad to point you in the right direction. I've lived here all my life, so I know all the nooks and small corners."

Rose nodded, continuing on to finish what she'd begun.

That ... made him stop and pause for a moment, but he just kept clearing the tables. It must be a loss. The castle screwing with people again, just like it always did. "I'd like that," he said with a nod. "I've found that it's always better to get tours from a local."

"Maybe when you're off shift we'll figure something out," she replied with ease.

"Bit of a tour, bit to eat?"

He smiled at that before nodding. "Yeah, sure. Sounds good. I'm trusting you as the expert though."

"Well, I won't wander off. I'm actually quite responsible like that."

"That is good to know. Me on the other hand, I tend to get stuck looking at things and lose my guide." He was a bit of a giant nerd that way.

"Oh, I know your type. Always has to see how something works, gettin' in the middle of things when you know you should just keep on walking."

She smiled at him, wondering just how she could say something like that and really believe it. Shaking it away, she exhaled, "So, we'll just have small plans for sometime while you're here."

"Hey. I find that kind of curiosity very useful. You never know when knowing how something works could come in handy." And it was true. At least in his experience.

"Great," he nodded. "I'd like that."

[banished_dame]

"We'll sort out the best time later this afternoon," Rose offered.

She figured that she'd sort his schedule out and then they'd be able to find the best time for it all.

"Sounds good," he nodded. He finished with the table before looking back at her. "What now?"

[banished_dame]

"Now, we work." She'll point to a tray of cookies that needs to be set into the display. There's a whole rack full of the trays that've just come out of the giant oven.

"Trust me, you'll get used to the pace."
