Orientation

Back at the library. This time a little sauced. I just got back from the department's official welcome. After the welcome session, my Phd mentor, another girl and myself went on a tour of the campus and then to the Grad Pub for lunch with the other new grad student. *pause* A man dressed in a pseudo police uniform just tapped me on the shoulder ( Read more... )

You've Gotta Bring That Trigger Back Up to Zero! jezebelmcpussy September 10 2004, 14:14:02 UTC
Yo Babe,
Try to keep a stiff lip over these cocky bastards! Esp. since he is new to the school and an MA student. Chances are he has some deep psychological issues to unravel, he's insecure about himself, and he's in love with his mother. That's usually the case.

You've gotta sorta cut him slack. It must be difficult being in love with one's mother. But on the other hand, I have very little tolerance for sincere arrogance so I say you should invite him to a dark alley and go from there.

As for getting loaded: watch yer back! Only lend money in small amounts, force someone else to try salt in their beer, and don't let those Kingston ladies seduce you all at once.

There's enough of Paradise to go around over 12 months, right?

Honestly, have fun. You are smart! Funny! Nice! Hot! Much more! And remember I'm in a similar predicament (except amongst faculty as well) and I'll be thinking of ya!

Peace and Eternal Love.

I do indeed know Craig. He's one of two Westerners at Queens this year (that I'm aware of). He's alright in my books. He seems a little nervous most of the time, so you should get along. You can also get on his good side by telling him you like the song "Safety Dance."

A little piece of advice. Do you remember the episode of Happy Days when the Fonze almost had to fight? He admitted that he wasn't a fighter, but that his "cool" image had meant that he never had to fight. I like to remember the Fonze when I'm unsure of myself. I might be feeling insecure, but as long as I put on my brown leather jacket and say, "aaaaay," people will think I know what's goin' on.

I always find it helps to carry around a Doctor's Note (usually pinned to the breast of my black turtleneck or beret) explaining my diagnosed anxiety disorder so that when I sip out of my flask in class the teach won't give me "guff"!

I'm excited for your new experience man, it sounds amazing. Just tell em the BBs sent you!
