[The feed shows an image of what looks like a paper red heart. It was simple and irregular. Obviously handmade. Then a familiar voice is heard.] Why is it on Valentine's day that people give other fake hearts
( Read more... )
I think it would be a bit difficult if people really gave each other their own hearts. You can't live very long after it's been ripped out of your chest, after all.
Well, people don't have to rip out their own hearts. They can get animal's heart. I mean they slaughter animals for meat, why not for something equally as important?
But if people were to rip out their hearts, that wouldn't be bad either. Even if it's tragic.
But the whole point is to give someone else your heart, that's what the paper represents. It's no good if you give them someone else's heart, or even an animal's heart. I suppose... it's not as romantic?
Although I did give someone my eye once, I don't think I'd go to that extreme again. You can live without an eye, after all, but not without a heart. And I'd rather not die just yet.
I think it's more an insult to give someone a representation of a heart made out of cardboard. Then something more similar to your own heart like another's which would work better.
You can live without a heart? That's exactly my point. Some people can't live without certain people, so ripping out your own heart would be the ultimate way of showing your love. But I guess that kind of thing is extreme.
(Feeding his dalmatian a chicken leg, that in turn is chomping on his hand.)
That is just ridiculous. Why should the ritual be an exchange of hearts, whether they are paper or real? If one wants to show their affection, they should derive an object that is important to their significant other. If everyone gives a heart, then that is simply worthless.
[Smirks, amused by the imagery of the dog chomping on the man's hand. But it was even more amusing because Wrath didn't show any kind of reaction either.]
Worthless? I wouldn't say so. In love you're giving your heart, mind and soul to another person. An object cannot compare to that. That's why the exchange of hearts is special and symbolic. It represents that sacrifice, that willingness to give yourself to someone else.

But I guess it's kind of how cats give people dead animals to show their affections.

(He turns to the glowing-eyed boy.)
Amused at an old man feeding his dog?
You seem to be quite the advocate of this exchange. Have you a lady love with whom you trade hearts?

[Now Schrodinger is blushing now.] No...but I'm sure if I did that would be my method.
