It's the same as comment wars on Livejournal. No biggie. but it's still kinda weird that they can't just send private messages....

Well, true, I suppose it is similar. Though I'd have to say at least in livejournal, you write it as a public thought (or at least directed to more than one person), and it's usually more of a sentiment or idea than an individual e-mail/conversation type thing.
