This was just lovely. There seems to be a lot of good language fic about these two popping up recently and I couldn't be happier.
And for all that he sometimes still feels like the one perpetually playing catch-up in a game his dad and his brother are pros at, what he learns, when it’s just him and Dean, is there’s a place for him, too. There’s a language that’s just theirs. Moments when Dean says “Dude,” and he just knows, they both do. I love that through this show we're getting to think about what it means to be and have a sibling. It's the most important relationship in my life.
He doesn’t remember that night, not really, and he wonders if what he does isn’t just because of the stories he’s heard, over and over, memories made in the retelling. Looking at Dean, he thinks that’s probably a blessing. He’s not even sure if Dean knows how much he telegraphs

yes, and yes some more, and that's what hooked me about this show, and is the crux of a series of conversations with someone who got that same thing, and nudged me in this direction.
this is totally off topic, but i read my mac today today and there you and the bean were! i was thinking "whoo-hoo, finally someone i know!" and then i realized that.. well, i don't know you exactly. still, good enough :)
hahaha. related, somewhat, i think the bean and i are actually planning on being in madison the saturday after easter (next weekend) so if you are going to be around and this little roadtrip actually comes together, i will give you a shout.
Sam punches him, thinks about putting his feet up on the dash to piss Dean off but that requires more gymnastics than the momentary flicker of irritation is worth.
“You okay?” Dean asks after a few minutes.
because that is them. Dean mocks him, then is making sure he's okay. It's so family.
