No full moon party?

I was gonna ask you a big favour for when you got to Bangkok (related to fake IDs on Khao San Rd) but now I can't!

And I so wanted to be under 26 in Europe!

rail pass! damn, didn't even think of that for myself, grrr. would they do that in whatever name you wanted? if so, charl & dave are going back that way, could maybe set the task to them perhaps? i'd love a railcard for england as it's a hell of a lot cheaper to get around that way...
passport photos though? or what other sort of ID were you thinking?

Dunno if I saw railcards... wouldn't really know what they looked like. I got myself an ISIC card (it was cheaper than paying student fees) but I forgot to lie about my age. They have all sorts of things though... ones like ISIC cards, press passes and stuff go for around 200 baht (they'll start at 250, you could probably get them even lower) while drivers licenses are around 1000 baht (again, you could probably get this down).

They do them in whatever name... they just have a typewriter at the back, and then seal it with the sticky plastic stuff. If you don't have a photo then and there they kind of half seal it and then you can stick your photo in later. My ISIC card looks pretty legit, although I haven't tried it yet. Student discounts aren't as common as under-26 discounts here it seems.

I suppose I should actually figure out if a) they're an acceptable form of identification as an under-26er and b) whether they can tell it's fake. But if it passes all those tests, it'll save me an absolute bomb on train travel in Europe.

I would give anything to have traveled like this before I was married or tied down. It sounds so fascinating!

can't you still do it? travelling with someone else is much more fun, though i'll admit that couples don't talk to anyone else as much as solo or noncoupled travellers do, or maybe it's the other way round. don't let marriage stop you though, go go go, it'll all be at least as much fun!

We would love to do it... but what would we do with our dogs? And how would we pay the mortgage? Stuff like that.

Those from NZ only pretend to speak English - they hide all sorts of funny words in their sentences though to confuse the rest of us ;)

Your adventures sound great, I'm enjoying reading about them.
