I was thinking.

I can't decide which would be more useful: being ageless, genderless, or neither.

When you think about it, being ageless has it's pros and cons. You never really know how old you are to be able to count down how many years you have until you reach a certain age, but it's good in that you never really know just how old you are. ( Read more... )

ageless, random, contemplative, genderless

Neither! See, the problem with being genderless is you'd lose so much of your sense of 'identity'. Society is still so heavily based on gender roles that it'd be nigh impossible to have a place.

As for being ageless...well, the only way for that is to not age, yeah? But that's immortality, and immortality would really suck.

Yes, and that is why I have to wonder if it is better. Why do we have to fit those "roles"? Why can't we decide for ourselves? Is a man any less of a man because he likes to wear dresses? Is a woman any less of a woman because she likes to play baseball?

Yeah, that I agree with, because then the world would become way overpopulated.

Ah, see, but becoming without gender only avoids the 'roles' instead of getting rid of them. Better to have a gender and ignore the rules. Only one who can really force you to fit anything is yourself.

That, and Time is cruel. I wouldn't want to live forever and only end up being bored.

So you think that these "roles" always existed? How do you know?

I guess if you've seen everything there is to see, and do everything, I could see how that'd get boring.

Haa~, mystery-chan beat me to it.

Society is a lot more critical of gender roles so if you're one of the few who lack either organ or have both, chances are you'll struggle finding a place to fit in. Chances are, you'll never really find anyone you can connect with and therefore forever be a reject.

Ageless is less problematic but even then people would notice, specially if you stay in the same city for a period of time. You could become a reject, or you'll forever be going out of your way to make short term relationships.

Could you really be considered a reject if everyone else was genderless or ageless like you?

If things were like that, I guess not but the world doesn't quite work that way at this present moment in time.

I know. Believe me. It was just a thought I had.

Gender is really only a problem if ya make it that way. Personally I have no problem with genders. I like'm both, each have their benefits dependin' on what yer lookin' for.

So I say ageless. Yeah, immortality sounds kinna borin' if it's jus' you, but ya said everyone'd be immortal right? Not so bad if everybody stayin' alive forever. Jus' think of all the shit you could see or do!

Yeah, I agree.

But if no one dies, and people keep popping out kids, then we'd probably all be on top of each other and unable to get anywhere or do anything.
