I am sure everyone who was interested did this months and months ago, but since I found out that Santa is not bringing me an iPod for Christmas (Santa is fairly blatantly anti-Apple around these parts), I figured why the heck not try it this way ( Read more... )

except that sometimes I track my UPS pacakge and it says "out for delivery" and then it doesn't arrive and you wonder why you spent $10 extra dollars for 2 day delivery and it's not delivered until the 3rd day....

That has happened to me, too, but it's always been because they needed a signature for delivery and the person wasn't home or something. One of the best things about leaving apartment life was that now, for the most part, everyone will just leave packages on our doorstep. It used to be a real pain when we lived in San Francisco.

Aw, it's only for US residents. Looks like I'll be (grrr) paying for an iPod...and waiting until after Christmas, since apparently they are sold out everywhere.

There might be an easier way to get an iPod. It's a wee bit labor intensive - you have to open a checking account with $2500 minimum (and it's fee-free if you direct deposit one paycheck a month) and then pay two bills online every month for 12 months. The Bill Pay is also free, and you get the iPod after two months. I'm thinking about doing it for Christine.

I do all my postal stuff here at work, so I live with the USPS's shortcomings for the sake of convenience. It would be swell, however, if they could learn the difference between East Gregory and West Gregory at some time during our residence at our current house.

I should confess that once UPS delivered a package full of Christmas presents to 2 Bayberry instead of 2 Bearberry, where my sister lived. (I had addressed it correctly, the driver just messed up.)

Cue my sister and me driving around in the pouring rain on December 23 at about 11 p.m. trying to find the address, running up to this strange house's porch, and running off our misdelivered package. We were sure a neighbor was going to call us in for burglary.

I called the post office this morning about the problem I've been having (not being able to open my mailbox!) and they actually let me talk to my mail carrier. They really need to set up a hotline for my guy.
