Accompanied DS to the dentist on Monday after his tooth 'exploded', his words! This is back to his old NHS dentist. No work was done but he has more anti-biotics & has to be referred to the local hosp to have 2 wisdom teeth out. DS went to the new dentist for his initial checkup. He hasn't looked after his teeth properly (sigh) or seen a dentist for about a year. It turns out he needs 2 wisdom teeth removing (1 is badly infected & needed immediate anti-biotics) & Lord knows how many fillings. The dentist won't now take him on as NHS & wants over £600. Made the mistake of telling DH that I'd forgotten to post MIL's card (he never remembers!) so he immediately says "we'll go up on Saturday". So after stopping off at M & S for flowers, we had an all day trip to Sheffield which I could have done without as I do have things to do here. Been on a fabric dyeing workshop today, had a great time & now have 18 bits of fabric soaking in plastic bags:-) We used 3 colours to make 15 differents colours. 15 pieces will be straightforward plain colours but the other three were scrunched or folded & had several colours dripped or poured on them so that could lead to some interesting patterns ( Read more... )

Just picked up half a dozen books from a Freecycler. Boy are they old - Arnold Bennett's Clayhanger (Penguin book priced at 7/6d), Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe (American version priced at 35c), Tolstoy's War And Peace (priced at 3/6d). There is a German grammar book, a German vocabulary & a Speak Welsh book. The novels are in pretty poor condition ( Read more... )
