Many have expressed regret that President Elect Obama's grandmother didn't live to see the man she raised win this election - and that is indeed a tragedy.

But on a personal level, I'm bummed Russell Compton didn't get to see it.

Awwww, man. Me too. I'd been thinking a lot about Russell lately, too, not necessarily because of the election but just coz.

That said, Russell had a lot of faith.

True that. I'm sure in many ways Russell saw this before any of the rest of this.

Heh. I imagine his response from upstairs was something along the lines of a very gentle "took you all long enough," said with that twinkle in his eye.

That was my comment about Obama's grandmother -- technically, she Knew the results an eternal day before the rest of us poor mortals.

I'm sad that Obama didn't get to share that victory with her in the here and now, but that's a fleeting, ephemeral sadness.

God rest his soul, he was a very special man. But rest assured, I'm positive both are looking down on this event and feeling very proud of us all. :)
