I called the vet this morning. Curly didn't make it through the night.

The weather has finally turned chilly here. Saturday, we awoke to thunderstorms with rain, that turned to sleet, then finally gusty winds and snow. Brenda and I had gone out to see a movie this evening. When we had returned, a little after 9PM, there were 7 messages on my cell that I missed. That's unusual, and in checking Brenda's cell, she didn't have any, nor were there any on the answering machine. I called the vet and while today is the operating vet's day off, the other one tells me the kitten is recovering from surgery. We shall see.

Brenda stopped by the vets on the way home from the mail run. The kitten was there and seemed OK, but the vet said that she had also managed to separate the bone again. He will have to operate today, resecure the bones, and put some cross pins to keep it all together. Then work on the infection, which seems to be responding. The main concern is the ( Read more... )

We called the vet and found "Gimpy" was ready for pick up. We did some errands, and stopped by. The vet says the circulation in the leg looks good and it's unlikely she'll lose the leg at this point. He gave us some medicine, and we paid the remaining bill, which was another $100. We have to bring her back next week to remove the stitches and get ( Read more... )

We stopped by the vet's office to see the kitten today. She seems to be doing pretty good. The vet showed us an XRay. The kitten has a pin in her leg, much like the one in my leg from when I broke it in 2005. I picked her up and the cuddled into my neck tightly.
